Celebrity Pet Names to Inspire First Time Dog Owners

So you got a new pet, now what do you name her? Wait! Is it a she or a he?

As a first time dog owner you are likely to experience a lot of difficulty in choosing a pet name. You want the name to be unique and meaningful but still perfect for yourr dog. Naming a dog Brownie or Spot is out of your options since a thousand other pets may share the same name for it is some of the most common dog names.  So where do you draw an inspiration? (Light bulb flicks in your brain) How about from a celebrity pet? Bright idea!

Hollywood celebrities do not only shine in TV, movies, music, sports, etc. They also shine in choosing some of the cutest, weirdest, funniest pet names. To give you an example here are some of the coolest celebrity pet names.

A-list duo Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner named their pet Martha Stewart. This is not to insult the chef and green thumb celebrity, but rather to show admiration for her.

Jen loves to cook and garden too so she chose that name for their yellow lab.

Jake Gyllenhaal loves both dogs and literature. So how did he show this? By naming his dogs based on the characters of the Harper Lee Pulitzer Prize winning novel To Kill a Mockingbird. His German Shepherd is known as Atticus Finch while his Puggle is called Boo Radley.

Like Ben & Jen, and Jake; Joss Stone also chose to name her dog after an inspiration. The soul singer-song writer confessed that Dusty Springfield is one of her top musical influences so she named her poodle after her.

Who is Jackson P. Mutley? Anyone? Well he may not be as popular as his owner, but he did gain his own right to stardom after winning the The World Urban Doggy Award in 2005.  Jack is Mariah Carey's Jack Russel Terrier.

He has appeared on several pictorials and music videos with MC, and even had a cameo appearance on the film, Glitter.

Frank Sinatra is not just known as an actor and the singer who made My Way very popular. He is also known as Reese Witherspoon's pet. Oops! My bad, I took them for the same person. Sorry for that! It just happened that Reese's English bulldog is named after him. Reese and former husband Ryan Philippe are both huge fans of the singer so as a tribute to him, they gave the dog his name.

These are just some of the celebrity dog names that hopefully can inspire you. Hope you can come up with something as cool as these. Aside from giving a good dog name, what's more important for a first time owner, is to give your dog petsafe care and lots of love.

Networking Is More Than Lots of Names, Says Heidi Roizen

Networking is more than having a hefty collection of business cards and attending A-list parties. Heidi Roizen has been a Silicon Valley CEO, a venture capitalist, and a corporate board member but the homework never ends, she told Stanford Graduate School of Business students. Today, she counts on such tech luminaries as Bill Gates as one of her pals. Her network is large and powerful. But she admitted that when she began promoting SkinnySongs she, in some ways, had to start all over. Roizen wrote lyrics for her SkinnySongs and then used her easy conversational ability to convince two high-powered Nashville music producers to work with her in getting them produced, funding the venture herself. "Everyone takes your calls when you're a venture capitalist in Silicon Valley," she said. "But when you're hawking a musical product and calling up the VP of Weight Watchers, they're not all that psyched to take your call. "Credibility and power don't necessarily translate into a different world," she said. Recorded: Nov. 6, 2009 Related Article: www.gsb.stanford.edu

Barney is variation of Barnabas which means son of comfort. Spot Fletcher is from Scott Fletcher. He was a former baseball player of the Texas Rangers. Spot Fletcher is the full name, but he is often called as Spotty. It is shorter.

President Bill Clinton, who served as the 42nd president from 1993 to 2001, used to own the first dog namely Buddy. He was a male Labrador Retriever with short chocolate-colored fur. Buddy is a good dog name meaning close or good friend. Actually, Bill got the name from name of his uncle. Unfortunately, Buddy was killed in a car accident. While Buddy was running on the road, a car hit Buddy.

President George H W Bush, who served as the 41st president from 1989 to 1993, owned the first dogs namely Millie and Ranger. Millie is a Springer Spaniel. Later, Millie gave birth to Ranger. Millie and Ranger are French dog names. Millie means industrious, while Ranger means guardian of forest.

President Ronald Reagan, who served as the 40th president from 1981 to 1989, owned the first dogs namely Rex and Lucky. Rex is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, while Lucky is a Bouvier des Flandres. Lucky would drag the president as the president takes Lucky for a walk.

President Richard Nixon, who served as the 37th president from 1969 to 1974, owned the first dogs namely Checkers (Cocker Spaniel) and King Timahoe (Irish Setter). His children named the dog as Checkers, because Checkers had a black and white fur like the black and white board game. King Timahoe was a gift from his member staff. The President got the name from the name of Irish Village where his ancestors used to live.

President Lyndon B Johnson, who served as the 36th president from 1963 to 1969, owned the first dogs namely Yuki, Beagle, Little Beagle, Him, Her, J Edgar, and Blanco. Five of the first dogs are from Beagle breed namely Beagle, Little Beagle, Him, Her, and J Edgar. Yuki is a Mongrel, while Blanco is a Collie. Yuki is a Japanese dog name which means blessing or snow. Since Blanco is a white Collie, the President names the Collie as Blanco.

A dog is naturally friendly, loyal, useful, warm, and playful. As a result, the dog becomes a sign of friendship. Often, the ruler of other country gives the dog as a sign of friendship. Dogs are also a big part of our life and family. Taking the dog to White House, the First Family completes the family.

Decapitated - Names

RIP Vitek lyrics: To stars and suns we carry To superhumans names in stone Into the depths of seas of grand desires To the thought pure, into nothingness Limitless solitude without numbers and names Where names a curse no longer are The ideal one- the true number of man The sick stench of crowded dogs With their eyes closed That are looking into others for gods Rotting millions keeping guard Of their own truths which you cannot see A many-headed worm of names uncounted Is eating its tail in wretched self-hatred Blinded millions on the road to death The hunger of self-destruction always defeats Raise your gaze- you can't You won't- it's easier to follow the herd You suck on an empty bag of words You fulfill yourself in a cage Of your own blindness Carry me, my wings of hatred Above the fear of knowing all other I want to see my very own death

10 Girl Dog Names and Their Meanings

Naming your new pet is, for some, one of the most challenging parts of pet ownership. You realize that you and your pet are going to be stuck with this name for a long time, so take your time when choosing. Below is a list of 10 girl dog names along with their meanings. Maybe you'll find the perfect name for your new four-legged friend.

Lola

Meaning: Strong woman

This name would be perfect for a dog that is known for strength, such as a bulldog. It is among the most popular names for female dogs.

Pixie

Meaning: Playful, fairy like

This is a good name for a dog that is small in stature. It would be a good fit for any of the toy breeds. Some owners of very large dogs named their dog Pixie as a way to show their sense of humor.

Molly

Meaning: This name is the Irish version of Mary

Because the name is decidedly Irish, it is an obvious choice for the Irish Setter, perhaps a bit too obvious.

This name continues to make the list of top dog names for girls, and its use certainly is not limited to a certain breed.

Sassy

Meaning: Lively, spirited, full of life

This name is often given to dogs who are very playful - or disobedient - as puppies. It is a perfect name for a dog that seems to have a mind of her own.

Millie

Meaning: Gentle advisor The name Millie, while long popular, picked up a bit of speed during the administration of the first President Bush. Millie was the name of his Springer Spaniel, and that dog was one of the most well-known pooches to ever live in the White House.

Sasha

Meaning: Helpmate or Helper

This name is likely to increase in popularity for both pets and people being that one of the first children bear this name.

Trixie

Meaning: Bringer of joy

This name just seems to belong to playful, energetic dog. Not as popular as it was during the 1950's, the name is once again gaining traction.

Lucy

Meaning: One who brings light

Lucy has consistently been on the list of most popular names for dogs for 40 years. Doesn't everyone know a dog named Lucy?

Sadie

Meaning: Princess, royalty

This name was once among the most popular for dogs. Oprah Winfrey helped bring this name back into the spotlight when she adopted a Cocker Spaniel and named her Sadie.

Jasmine

Meaning: A lovely, pleasant smelling flower

If you let your little girl choose the name for your dog, this name is very likely to come up. The reason for that, of course, would be because this is the name of a popular Disney princess.

When choosing a name for your dog, try to match both physical characteristics and personality. It's also a good idea to keep in mind that you are going to have to spend the next 15 years yelling this name at the dog park, so choose wisely!
